Traveling to someone else’s dream is always a big part of any adventure especially when that person is Douglas Tompkins. ¿ Imagine someone with the same love for nature as for business? He was a passionate adventurer who traveled the entire patagonia climbing most of the highest peaks in the region and managed to co-found The North Face, Patagonia, Sprit and various other environmental groups, but from my point of view his biggest achievement was Parque Pumalin in Chile.

That region of the country is specially desolated, there are very few towns, some abandoned, no gas stations and very few stores to supply for the long travelling days we had planned ahead. Before we left Puerto Varas we stocked with every single thing you could imagine, except for food that needed refrigeration. The car we rented was completely packed with all our things, it had become our mobile home.
The drive to get to that park from Puerto Varas is a two day journey. The first day we traveled to a lake called Camutue. We arrived and placed our tents on the lakes shore, made some fire and cooked some noodles with pasta. We had to go to sleep early because we had to catch the only ferry that left 5am in the morning from Cochamo to Caleta Gonzalo.
